Cutting The Bag
Here you can see how I cut the paper bag. I pretty much cut every bag the same and had no problem fitting any of my gifts. You’ll be surprised how big a brown paper bag is once you cut it open.
Crease the Edges
Another great quality of grocery bags for gift wrap is the durability. In fact sometimes when you’re wrapping with it your fold and will get pretty tough to work with and start fighting the tape. When this happens just run your clean fingers and even nails along the edges and creases. Pressing firmly, but not to firmly, as to damage your present.
Creating a sort of permanent press on the fold and making the paper easier to work with. It also cleans it up and make it look neater. Just make sure your hands are clean or else the firm pressure with leave all your finger residue and even ink smeared along the present.

As we know most kids LOVE Play-Doh and depending on what age they’re at, you can accumulate a lot of Play-Doh containers in one kid’s childhood. As with the L.O.L Balls we turned into ornaments, Play-doh is another toy with packaging that you just hate to throw away. The small yellow containers in various sizes are durable and have lids, so they are still a very useful item.
Save Play-Doh Containers
Being a DIY-er I have saved them for arts, crafts and seasonal decor. Whether you have a few or a bunch of Play-Doh containers this DIY project only really calls for two.
Of course you could always use this project for an inexpensive alternative to silver bells in a larger setting. Say a Holiday party or school decorations. in this case you will want a whole bunch of containers.
First, Clean the Containers
First You will want to clean out your Play-Doh containers. This shouldn’t be hard if you let the Play-Doh dry first. You should be able to just scrape out the dry play-doh easily. Just make sure the outside doesn’t have greasy or sticking stuff on the outside. A quick wash with dish soap should get them clean.
Once The Containers are Dry
After, your containers are dry if you had to wash them. then you are ready to paint them. I used spray paint because it is way easier and they turn out much nicer.
To spray paint the Play-doh containers get a piece of plastic or cardboard to lay down underneath. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area with no breeze and your surroundings are protected from overspray.
Then spread out your containers so you can still get a good shot of paint on all sides of them, but they’re not too close to where they get overspray on each other.
I used Rustoleum’s Metallic Finish Silver Spray paint. You can get this at Home Depot, Walmart and other hardware or hobby stores. It looks best when you do two coats but if your trying to stretch your paint the rust-oleum will cover it with one nice even coat.
Once The Paint Dries
After the outside layer has dried completely, you can flip the containers over and spay a light coat around the outside brim. The part that was facing down and is still yellow. You can point the spray paint towards the inside of the can and make a few circular motions to cover some of the yellow closest to the edge. This way when you flip them over you don’t see yellow from underneath.
Let all the containers dry completely. If you would like to do another coat you can go ahead following the same process. Just be sure to rotate the containers so they get evely painted. Once the silver is dry you are ready to turn them into bells.
Make Them Jingle All the Way
Put a Hole in The Top
To make your silver bells jingle all the way, you can tie a small jingle bell to the end of the string.
First, you are going to want to put a hole in the top of the flipped over container. I used a nail and just slowly push it through. The plastic gives slowly and your nail will pop through. Then to widen the hole just move your nail around in a circular motion.
Find a string and that is thin enough to fit through the hole, but strong enough to hold your bell arrangement. Make one big knot about half way down a 8″-12″ piece of string. This is to keep the string from coming up through the hole. If you don’t want to tie a million little knots, you can tie on a bead. That’s what it did. It’s a more secure way to be sure your cup doesn’t fall down to hang on the jingle bell at the end.
Add a Jingle Bell or Two, or Three
After tying a bead or knot half way down the string. You can tie on a jingle bell, or as many jingles bells as you would like, to the end of the string.
The Bell That You’re Placing at the End
You want to tie it so that the jingle bell is at end of the string, but still up high enough so when you hold your bell up. It doesn’t come out hanging past the bottom of the Play-Doh container. The bell should still be inside the flipped over cup.
Strictly for Show
If you are using this project for a larger scene or an event production. Say you are just need them to look like silver bells and not sound like them. Then by all means leave it empty inside and just tie a big enough knotto keep the cup on the string. Again you could tie a bead or washer inside to to keep from having to o tie a bunch of little knots.
If you are using this craft for kids and you don’t have jingle bells. The kids can tie beads, washers, or whatever else on to make them make noise. You could also try multiple strings with different sounding beads or charms.
After you tied your knots and added your jingle bell or beads. Then, thread the string up through the hole in the top. To hold the upside down container while the bells and beads hang down inside the cup.
You can tie another knot close to the container to keep the cup inplace. Or go ahead and tie it around the pieces in your bell arrangement.

Turn L.O.L Doll Packaging Into Christmas Ornaments
L.O.L Surprise Dolls, those small, extremely fashionable, almost too small to be cute; dolls. Their shoes will make you have to vacuum with your reading glasses on. lol
They are very adorable with their small size and very detailed accessories. After all they should be detailed, if they are that small and the price tag is the size it is!
Whether the miniture dolls and their details cost that much, or their packaging I haven’t figured out yet. Either way we can’t ignore that they come with some major baggage!
Repurpose, Reuse, Recycle
As hardworking adults it is hard to see such little toys come out of so much packaging and price tag!
Well, we may not be able to do much about the toys inside and the pricetag, but we can still help to save mother earth! By finding ways to reuse these capsules.
I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with repurpose and/or upcycle projects for the L.O.L Balls and Capsules.
If you are not familiar with L.O.L Doll’s. They are packaged in a super strong plastic ball. If not a ball, in capsule, cylinder or some other enclosing shape.
They Containers are very durable and they snap together well, once you line up the notches. They are great storage for the dolls themselves and their accessories.
However, once you have collected, lets say three L.O.L Surprise capsules. Then the containers become a nucense because everything doesn’t fit in one and you want to have them al the acessories together to pick the perfect outfuit! 🙂
Then you’ve got really strong, girly color, oddly shaped containers. Floating around your house like last year’s Easter eggs.
The Simple Solution
I’ve been keeping my eye out for a spark of creativity, for repurposing the L.O.L containers. It turns out I didn’t have to think so hard. The plastic spheres with a handle are perfect just the way they are (almost)!!
As Christmas Ornaments!
Pretty much all you have to do, to turn these precious toys into ornaments, Is spray them with a layer of spray paint. Then thread ribbon, wire or, string through the hole in the ball. Just being careful not to scratch the paint if you are using wire.
The cut outs
The cut outs in the sides of the Surprise balls are perfect for personalizing the ornaments. You could have them fit in with you farmhouse Christmas style and add greenery, pine needles or pine cones coming out of them.

There are diecast Paw Patrol cars. I love them them because at the end of the day when our kids are grown up the girls will probably keep their barbies and the boys will probably keep their Hot Wheels. Having the diecast paw patrol cars means you can keep them too, right along with your hot wheels!
This is a must if you little princess love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Minnie has cute and the small friends that go with this hotel are great too, You will definitely get your money’s worth out of it, for a couple years. (assuming they are not too old now)
You’ve got to love Batman! This year he has a Remote Control Batmobile that launches him as well. Our Favorite is Batman’s Lair. He has been need of a new Batcave and this year there are a few to choose from.
Great Sets! They are Fun to build and to play with! Very Detail characters and accessories. If You Love The Lego Dinosaurs as much as my son then you will want to check out lego dinosaurs on amazon. you can buy just the dinos in all different types. They are not Lego brand, but they are great for building dinos.
This LEGO 3 in 1 Dinosaur is pretty cool. All three dinosaurs can be made from the same parts. I’ve taken apart and built all three dinosaurs many times. They are fun to build and fun to play with after. We like to search for the same pieces and change them out with different color. Just keep the pieces together and you will have no problem building them into another dinosaur.
Playmobil has some really good play sets! All of their playsets and figurines are well made. Strong, sturdy pieces that snap together well and keep their place.
Some sets can be expensive, especially when they are large or new, but the quality of the toys make up for it. You can sometimes find the Playmobil blind bags on sale for as little as a dollar. Places like Marshalls, Home Goods, and Big Lots will have them.
Sometimes the figures are a little tricky to put together. Younger kids will need assistance putting the blind bag figures together until they learn to line up the notches. Parents will appreciate the quality of Playmobil.
Hot Wheels, they are Timeless! One thing about Hot Wheels, they are a toy that everyone can relate to and can be played at any age. It’s one toy kids will play with until they have a car of their own! Even Play, Race, and Build HOT WHEELS Tracks as a family! HOT WHEELS are always a great idea!
Basic HOT WHEELS Cars You can find basic hot wheels everywhere, from Walmart to the Grocery Store, Gas Station, and Tractor Supply. They are always a good stocking stuffer for boys. My daughter loves when we find a pink HOT WHEELS car for her. I always looked for my dream car as a teenager! lol. they are good for all ages.
Straight HOT WHEEL track pieces with a connector, so they never run out out of track. Perfect stocking stuffer! Being long and thin, it fits easily in the stocking, and adds great presentation in a HOT WHEELS gift basket.
I know from experience they sell out quickly. At Walmart they are only sold in stores, at Target you can order them online.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!! The grandma that buys this toy for their grandbaby wins! Each year Fisher Price has a toy with cars and the Little People, My children both had one and they loved them. Actually, take that back, we still love one of them. My four and a half year old son still plays with it, with his hot wheels and other cars. You will definitely get an adorable reaction and your money’s worth out of this toy!
A very cool, very intelligent interactive learning toy. Great for at home learning, BUT It doesn’t work nor fit with your case on the iPad!! The slim waterproof or silicone cases do not fit.
I recommend if you want your child to actually use the toy/learning tool constantly , I recommend downloading the apps and setting it up to use on a different ipad. Not on your child’s ipad to where you would have to take the case on and off multiple times. You have to download an app for each different Osmo activity bundle.
The Starter Kits range from $70 to $100 There are four to choose from
Each starter kit has its own interactive accessories with that app and the white Osmo Pad.
The kids always play with the peppa Pig toys. They don’t always play with Peppa and the other characters., now that they’re getting older. They do however play with the house and all the furniture with just about everything that fits. We even have the smaller house too, the one that folds. So I know they will love this one!
Peppa’s Fancy House will give that WOW! factor when they open it. You will definitely get your money’s worth out of it.
The furniture is well made and fits in each room of the house. My kids actually use they furniture for all kinds of small friends, even barbies and L.O.L’s.
All Peppa Pig playsets and houses are great something about the simplicity of the show keeps the kids entertained. From 6 months to around 6 years old, you will definitely catch their attention.

If Play-doh being messy is a problem for you, then this Play-doh Play n’ Store table may help out. With built in molds on the lids, there are two storage compartments for kids to store their play-doh and tools. This is also a great toy for grandma’s house with its self contained storage. It is also a good set for kids just starting out with play-doh. The cookie cutters are easy for the little ones and you can even review some shapes and animals while you play! This set on amazon is $38
Honestly all Play-doh sets are great, but this on particularly gets the most use. My kids lode making the little teeth molds and rolling our colorful brackets to put on like braces. The little drill requires two AA batteries. Then your little dentist can fix his teeth right up! Your kids will enjoy this set and if they siblings you might even find them working together with this one!
This is an interactive set with lights and sound. I would categorize this as a STEM toy. The interactive play involves figuring out how to make the connections. A great Learning toy, though pricey if they don’t want to commit to an ongoing collection of expansion packs. You must have the starter pack which runs about $60. Then each expansion packs are $30 to $100 each. The Interactive Super Mario Collection is almost a game console on its own.
